I AM THE CHURCH
I am the church. You are the church. We are the church, together.
All who follow Jesus, all around the world. Yes, we're the church, together!
The church is not a building. The church is not a steeple.
The church is not a resting place. The church is the people!
I am the church. You are the church. We are the church, together.
All who follow Jesus, all around the world. Yes, we're the church, together!

SMPC VBS 2009

During the week of August 3-7, SMPC hosted Vacation Bible School for children ages 3 through 6th grade. Over 170 children and 85 adult and youth volunteers participated in Camp E.D.G.E. where they were "Experiencing and Discovering God Everywhere!"

Each day the children learned an "E.D.G.E. Pledge", a statement of faith followed by an active response of faith. These became the core of educational piece for this week's VBS program:

God is with me. I will stay close to God.

God guides me. I will follow.

God teaches me. I will learn.

God loves me. I will love God and others.

God sends me. I will go.

Families also had the opportunity to donate items to a number of local charities, which the 6th graders delivered each day during their outreach projects. What a fantastic and fun week we all had together!

Music Ministry Kickoff!

On Sunday, September 20, we will begin a new year of singing, dancing, playing instruments, and being silly together! I am looking forward to welcoming new faces and having fun with old friends as I bring music to the three's, four's and Kindergarten classes during the Sunday School hour each week.

There will be new "Musicians of the Month", opportunities to lead worship throughout the year, and many fun things to do together! Check out the bulletin board outside of the Fellowship Hall and girls' bathroom for more information and updates!

Mark your calendars for our next Music Workshop, which will take place on Saturday, September 26. I will offer two 45 minute sessions (9:00-9:45 and 10:00-10:45) for children ages birth to Kindergarten and their families. Sign up in the narthex or email me at maddygirl23@carolina.rr.com. Little Grey Donkey (Audio Link)
By Natalie Sleeth

Little grey donkey, little grey donkey, little grey donkey, ho.
Do you know just who it is you carry on your back?
‘Tis no ordinary load, no mean or common pack.
You are blessed of all beasts to carry into town
Christ the Lord of Gallilee, He wears no earthly crown.

Little grey donkey, little grey donkey, little grey donkey, ho.
Once you were a simple beast of poor and lowly state.
Christ Himself hath chosen you and honoured is you fate.
Though your path with palms is spread, make haste along the way;
You were destined here to ride on this triumphal day.

Little grey donkey, little grey donkey, little grey donkey, ho.
Yonder is a grassy hill; it’s known as Calvary.
Up against the cloudless sky a barren cross you see.
Little grey donkey, Little grey mare, don’t hide you head in shame.
For you bear the Lamb of God, and Jesus is His name.
For you bear the Lamb of God, and Jesus is His name.
